Teaching & Guitar
Musicianship, curiosity, and the art of learning.
My philosophy

My goal is to create a lifelong love of music, culture, and learning in every student who enters my studio.
Teaching runs in my family. I'm a third-generation music teacher, and I've been teaching for thirty years. I love working with students of every age, from first lessons to lifelong players.
Strong technique
Good technique makes everything easier. We build a foundation of healthy, efficient playing so students can play freely, for life, in any style or genre they love.
A process built for each student
No two students learn the same way. Together we shape a learning process around each student's goals, pace, and interests.
Curiosity for connection, culture, and art
Music is a vehicle to grow as a human. Students learn where music comes from, why it matters to a culture, and how to connect with other people through performing and playing together.

Blackforrest Music School
I founded Blackforrest Music School in 2002 to share this approach with more students. I offer private lessons, group classes, and summer camps with one aim: help students fall in love with playing and keep playing for life.
I'm currently taking a small number of private students. If you'd like to study with me, let's talk.
